If you're that concerned about wood dust and are using something like a 3m respirator, not the simple dust mask -you could rub a bunch of vaseline into the beard and put the respirator on tightly.

Oct 11, 2016·I know a breathe easy isn't in your budget, but keep an eye out on ebay man. I use it w/ the m105 mask and it's ridiculous how comfortable it is compared to the 3m half mask. My pump went down a few months ago and I went back to using the 3m half mask (with my beard lol).

Get an effective respirator filtration by using a SAPR or PAPR system with a hood type enclosure and it does not depend on a face type seal. Face-fit testing can determine if the beard is an issue or not.
MATERIALS: 2 pieces of fabric/mask. ADULT: 6″ x 9″ CHILD: 7.5″ x 5″ 2 pieces of elastic/mask (1/8″ or 1/4″ flat works best). ADULT: 7″ (in the video they recommend 7″ but for my face it was a little loose, I’ve seen others suggest 6.5″ and that works better for me. I will be using 7″ for men’s / neutral fabrics and 6.5″ for feminine fabrics)
As for a vapor mask with a beard I use an MSA (around $35-$40) with MSA cannister filters. I have tried the ones at HD and Lowes (3 M.. etc..) and found the MSA is the tightest seal without going to a full mask and mucho $$. Wearing a dust mask with finish fumes is a waste of time but a dust mask for dust only is a major advantage.

All of that said, I have a buddy that has a man beard and uses a Honeywell full faced respirator. He has to tuck the beard up into it to get a full seal, but I suppose that is the sace you make. He decided to get the full faced one because he had a very small piece of metal enter his eyeball.
